Reece Ushijima was born on January 13, 2003 in Laguna Hills, California to an American mother and a Japanese father. He grew up in California and Japan.

 

Reece’s racing career began at age 13 when he stopped by a small kart track in Fukuoka, Japan. He took to the sport immediately and was soon competing nationally. At age 15 he moved to the UK for an intensive driver training program, world-class karting competition and school.

 

Just before his 17th birthday, Reece's 2019 debut in car racing came in British Formula Ford, followed by the winter MRF Challenge. In 2020 and 2021 he contested full seasons of British F3 / GB3 along with a campaign in Asian F3. In 2022 Reece stepped up to the global stage for a full season in FIA F3 in 2022. He moved to the US in 2023, contesting a partial season in USF Pro 2000.
